More oft than not these days, plus sized shoots seem to involve over sexualised aesthetics where the aim of the game is to bare it all. It seems that to magazines, curves are only sexy in the most obvious way and have trouble styling bigger girls when they actually have to wear clothes.
Perhaps magazines want to make maximum impact, and Candice Huffine does not dissapoint on that front. She really does prove that curves can be sexy for the cover shoot for the May issue of Spain’s S Moda.
The shoot was lensed by Damon Baker and features a glamorous hair and beauty look full of lush curls and full lips by Paul Merritt and Lucy Bridge.
This is “pin-up” in its truest form harkening back to the days when the ideal woman was not a size 0.
Thoughts on the shoot? Sexy just for the sake of it or celebrating the female form?

sexy
awesome!
Black and white makes it.
Not sure why she needed the baggy jumper and the curlers…otherwise stunning
Awesome shoot, these pics are so sexy.
They are all right … Black n white looks good 🙂
Sometimes it feels like editorial laziness – where they can’t be bothered trying to find clothes that fit and flatter plus sized women, so they just put them in lingerie.
Love the curves!
She looks stunning and sexy.
Gorgeous!!
The last picture is unnecessary and baring it all for the sake of showing off. I think the whole ‘look at me’ and indeed the opposite ‘females have to be totally hidden’ is immature whatever the reason. She’s not plus size though – she’s tall it seems and a bit chubby/overweight – in her cade more top heavy. Real pluz sized sexualized shoots tend to have sympathetic lighting or things in the way of the risque areas or so-called ‘curves’. There’s a difference between rolls and curves, curvy means the bust-waist-hip ratio and is regardless of weight, anyone can have well defined curves, it’s not reserved for thin, medium or fat people. Calling fat ‘curves’ is misleading.
God she’s gorgeous! x
She’s beautiful!

She has great curves!
Shes gorgeous but I’m not really liking the photos, especially the curlers one.

Gorgeous!
I love the shoot-Gorgeous women

Great campaign
I don’t know why we can’t just say Candice Huffine for S Moda, attention has to be drawn to the fact that she’s “plus size” and how great that is. Until it’s not a talking point anymore, it’s always going to be an issue and damaging for impressionable women’s self esteem. While Candice Huffine looks incredible, people don’t want to be called “plus sized.”
agreed
very glam!
Nuh I don’t like these.
I think Candice looks stunning here and she’s not always baring all. How come it is alright for slender models to feature in magazines mostly naked but when a plus-sized model does it you label it “sexy just for the sake of it”? I don’t think she’s any less dressed than smaller models in magazines. And she is beautiful, especially with her curves, so why shouldn’t she show them off? I think it’s important for women of all shapes and sizes to see models like Candice in all their glory so they know that they, too, can be seen as sexy. I think in this example, more than ever, that old saying is true: if you’ve got it, flaunt it!
very true
true and she looks better than some on those overly sexualised young model’s with bodies of a little boy!
sexy and such a great way to celebrate the female curves
