Beauty How-To: Bold Eyeshadow

Want to get a bold look for a night out or perhaps just to brighten up your week a little? A splash of popping colour in in your normal makeup routine is proving the best way to make your whole look stand out that bit more and give you some edge. So  here’s an easy step-by-step guide so you can create the bold eyeshadow look yourself- come on, I dare you!

1. Laura Mercier eye basic in wheat, $42 at  adorebeauty.com.au 2. M.A.C eye shadow in electric eel, $32 at maccosmetics.com.au 3. The Body Shop liquid eyeliner in black, $23.95 at thebodyshop.com.au

Step 1: Apply Laura Mercier eye basic all over the lid- this drys to a powder so ensure its blended quickly and evenly. The product is fantastic to hold any eye makeup- keeping the colour vibrant all day and night and preventing the colour from running or creasing.

Step 2: Apply M.A.C eye shadow using a flat brush and in a pressing motion, allow the shadow to press onto the skin for maximum colour.  You can then blend with a softer brush along the crease line to have a smooth edge. These bright vibrant colours are great for brunettes to really show off those dark features will sublte pop of colour. For fairer tones, opt for cooler shades- there are plenty to choose from.

Step 3: Liquid liner to really bring out your natural eye shape. I personally like the contrast between the jet black liner and the bright blue pigment, they really compliment each other well.

It is you’r choice to add masacara- here i used a thickening and building masacara by Laura Mercier to really bring out the eyes making them the focul point for this look. For the lips, you can apply a clear gloss or lip balm to add a little shine. It is also quite nice to define your natural eye shape by filling in your eyebrows either with a pencil or for a softer finish eyebrow powder. Here I used black and brown eyeshadow mixed together.

Good luck!
