For spring 2014, aerie, which is American Eagle’s lingerie line (which we don’t get here but you can track down pieces online) has released their latest campaign which features models unretouched wearing their new collection of bras, underwear and bedroom apparel.
With the hashtag #aerieReal, their main focus is about real bodies, real women and how they can look confident and sexy in lingerie. The cynic in us does think this to be something of a marketing ploy, but hey, if it helps promote healthy body image…more power to you! Of course it helps the “real girls” in the photos are absolutely gorgeous too.
Says Jennifer Foyle, the brands Chief Merchandising Officer, “The purpose of ‘aerie Real’ is to communicate there is no need to retouch beauty, and to give young women of all shapes and sizes the chance to discover amazing styles that work best for them,”
What do you all think of the campaign? Just a press stunt or geniune?
