A Day In The Life Of: Johnny Schembri, By Johnny

We have been long time fans of Johnny Schembri and his label By Johnny. As a designer to watch, he has quickly garnered a cult following and is now stocked online and internationally by the likes of The Iconic and Capital L. We got a sneak peek into the life of this superstar Aussie designer to see what its all really about!

7:00 am – Wake up to the sound of Jaxon’s (doggy) nails tip tapping on the floor boards as he plays with his toys. Check Instagram @by_johnny and @johnnyschembri

7:30 am – Food time, depending on my mood either egg white omlette with toast or wheat bix with honey and milk.

7:45 am – Throw on a white, black or grey tee and choose a short, jean or chino – Today’s look done

8:30 am – Arrive at the studio – check emails and going through to do list

9:00 am – Meeting with Renee (sister) going over production schedule and calendar

9:15am – Make a tea

9:30am – Going over next seasons collection concept and direction, thinking colours, prints and new techniques.

10:30am – Pattern making and testing some new styles.

11am – Fitting session with fit model, going over production samples and also first samples for new collection.

1pm – Lunch – Head to Kitchen by Mike down the road for a quick bite.

2pm – Back at office – working on print files for production, tweaking artworks and strike offs, fresh from the local print factory.

3pm – Local factory delivery of current collection. Ensure it is all QC’d and ready for store deliveries.

4pm – Fabric supplier meetings sourcing fabrics for the next collection

6pm – Back to office – prepare for tomorrows meetings and fittings

6:30 – Gym time – Sweat to Corey Craig podcast (perfect gym mixes)

7:45 – Dinner date with either my favorite couple Callum and Steven or my two best GFs Cara and Daniella.

10pm – Bedtime – Turn to my Ipad watch SMH TV or see what is on Iveiw
