5 Shortcuts To Updating Your House For Summer!

As the days lengthen and the scent of spring makes way for the heady heat of summer, now is the time to turn your attention to sprucing up your abode. Summer is all about relaxing and entertaining – drinks with friends and fun dinner parties, so how do you ready your personal pad for some true summer enjoyment? Whether you rent or own, live in the ‘burbs or an apartment in the city, there’s a few easy ways you can welcome summer into your home.

Pitch and Ditch

As they say, out with the old and in with the new. There’s some serious merit behind the myth of spring cleaning. Now is the time to take a good look around your home and clear that clutter. Why not pare back that magazine collection, ditch that cracked vase and store away those dated dust-collectors!

Extra space around the home is invaluable when it comes to refreshing, so now is a great time to invest in some storage and move some of the clutter away. Afterall, there’s no reason a house can’t be a constantly evolving artwork with different things on display at different times.

Review and Renew

Is that lamp looking dog-eared, that rug no longer revivable? Then ditch it and renew. It’s amazing how much difference one item can make to the look of a room. Think about updating with a new chair, a bright rug, an updated set of blinds or a funky wall hanging.

These little touches bring fresh character to any room and they don’t have to break the bank. Furniture and homewares stores such as Super A-Mart have some great affordable options and ideas when it comes to bringing summer into your home.

Refresh and Revive

Sometimes, all that’s needed to freshen up is to give something a good clean, sand or polish. Revive bedspreads with a soak and add some new throw cushions. If you’re feeling crafty, think about sanding back that sidetable and giving it a fresh coat of lacquer! Or perhaps you could give your external areas a new lease of life by installing new outdoor blinds in Melbourne, giving otherwise un-used spaces a new lease on life?

Remove and Rearrange

Your favourite antique chair may have sat in the hall since 1982 but could it also look amazing in the bedroom? And what about those couches, how do they look rearranged? Altering the entire look and feel of your home can be as easy as rearranging the furniture. Couple that with some beautiful cushions, a couple of new ornaments or a bright lampshade and the whole vibe changes.

Relax and Enjoy

Most importantly, summer is about relaxation with family and friends, so turn your focus to entertaining. For a completely hassle-free update think about buying a new tablecloth, an interesting set of glasses or a modern table setting.

However you choose to embrace summer, whether it be through reviving, renewal, rearranging or complete renovation, the ultimate outcome is an enjoyable retreat that you can enjoy with family and friends!
