Bride Bible: To Veil Or Not To Veil

As my wedding preparation for the perfect complete outfit looms ever closer, the question looms…to veil or not to veil. It seems a pertinent question for many modern brides these days, who are shying away from the traditional for alternative headpieces and adornments that also work to great effect.

Veils have had a place in marriage ceremonies for centuries, and yes, they are totally beautiful.  Veils can be dated as far back as ancient Rome, were flame coloured veils were donned to ward off evil spirits.

Today, veils are the marker of a traditional wedding and are offered up in an array of options..long or short, they may cover the face or not…or just a headpiece.

For me, there is no traditional aspect to my wedding. We aren’t getting married in a church, my family isn’t super traditional nor is Todd’s. There’s something though, of the traditional bride with in me that just..loves a veil!

I feel like it is way too traditional for me usually, but I also think this is the one day in my whole life where I can wear a veil and feel like a princess. It may not be the most practical accessory, but boy is it a beautiful one.

Thus, my exploration of the kinds of veils available has begun, and hence my compilation of some veil inspiration for your Tuesday morning.

Let me know..did you veil? If so, why? If not…what did you wear instead?

Tash xx

I love veils! And I’ll definitely be having one when I get married. I’m not a fan of the ‘poofy’, big veils. Something will a little lace feature and hangs down is perfect. But it also depends on the dress. Elegance for me!

Yes, I wore a veil although we weren’t very traditional either. It just felt like something I’d only wear once in my life. And it did kind of add something special to the ceremony.

Veils are stunning, but only as long as the bride wants to wear one on her own terms xx
