Shakuhachi’s Spring Summer collection was large – both the audience and looks delivered in quantity. Thankfully the quality was there to match in varied and wearable forms. Colour blocking, while bold by nature, felt less in your face by mixing neons with nudes and dusty peaches. Pink and orange were more complimentary than contrasting and aqua additions rounded out the brighter side of the colour palette beautifully.
Mustard leather panelling on buttermilk yellow linen made for an enviable short suit and clean nude pieces would look fabulous on those with the complexion to match. A neon weave-effect mini will sell well to the tanned beauties of Australian shores while a black leather body-con dress with cutout mesh floral detailing will appeal to the metropolitan girl. In my opinion Shakuhachi most definitely saved the best till last, choosing to close the show with fabulous jewel embellished numbers given movement through swinging tassels. It may not have been as sexy as burlesque nipple tassels but Shakuhachi nailed fun sophistication.
