This year sure has flown by – can you believe it’s December already? And that means it’s almost Christmas, and the party season is upon us. BBQ with family and friends:
It’s an Australian tradition to have a BBQ in the backyard with your nearest and dearest. Because you’re outside, wear something in a breathable light fabric and make sure you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing. The best part is that all these dresses can go from day to night simply just by swapping your sandals for some heels or wedges.

Work function:
The same rules apply for work dress codes and at work functions: don’t show too much skin, don’t go over-the-top with embellished pieces (accessorise with jewellery instead), skin tight dresses are a no-no and keep the hemline appropriate. You still want to keep the respect of your co-workers and boss intact. Keep it classy, ladies.

Family dinner:
There’s nothing better than sharing a Christmas dinner with family, and there’s nothing worse than wearing something inappropriate! Don’t wear anything too revealing – i.e. nothing that your grandparents would be shaking their head at in disapproval, so I stress again, steer clear of the tight dresses! If you don’t want to go with a simple block-coloured frock, try incorporating some different prints and textures to make your outfit a little more fun, or try some colourblocking with bold accessories and shoes.

Drinks with friends:
This occasion gives a lot more leeway in the outfit department. You’re free to show a little bit more skin, the hemlines can come up and you can wear whatever height of shoes you want, however if you’re drinking we recommend not to wear the highest shoes you own. Experiment with statement hues and sexy silhouettes, add some accessories and you’re out the door!
Some lovely suggestions here.
I love the free people lace dress.
