As glamorous as makeup looks when applied, by the time we get home, we know it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Yes, it’s time to remove the makeup, and if this task as tedious for you as it is for me, then maybe this product may help. You see, I apply many waterproof products, mascara, eyeliner, under eye concealer, foundation and even some shadows as I find it to work better for me, however it is a huge (emphasis on the word huge) pain to remove. Ordinary makeup remover simply won’t cut it, but luckily, I have found the perfect makeup remover for me: L’Oreal Dermo Expertise Gentle Eye Makeup Remover for Eyes and Lips – Waterproof.
The first thing I noticed was the packaging. I like the flattened shape of the bottle and the flip open lid but what really caught my eye was the two separate liquid layers, the top layer a transparent blue and the bottom, a milky blue white, which must be shaken before use. The opening is rather small to prevent too much product spilling onto the cotton pad. I must say, I really like the packaging.
Love it. The product itself is excellent. It removes all makeup effectively from my eyes, even the waterproof eyeliner and mascara some makeup removers simply couldn’t remove. It isn’t sticky or greasy like other oil based removers. It doesn’t require harsh rubbing of the eyes; a gentle pressing or wiping motion is enough. As the name suggests, it is indeed a ‘gentle’ eye makeup remover and doesn’t sting the eyes or skin. If some product does happen to make its way into your eyes (which shouldn’t happen unless you’re careless and clumsy as I am) there may be slight blurring but no pain whatsoever. It is ideal for the removal of eye and lip makeup, but I tend to use it as an all over makeup remover, however some may disagree as the oils can block your pores or cause breakouts. It does an excellent job removing lipstick too!
What sometimes annoys me is that you have to shake the bottle up every time before use so the two layers can mix together, and it can separate quite soon after. Be sure to shake well and then apply to a cotton pad and press onto your lid for a few seconds before wiping the pad gently off your eyes. You may need to wipe a couple more times depending on how much eye makeup you have on.
The product may leave a little oily feeling on your skin but after I remove my makeup, I tend to then wash my face with my facial cleanser which removes any hints of oil so this is not an issue for me. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who applies eye makeup, both waterproof and regular as it can remove anything with ease. The price is quite regular in my opinion for a makeup remover and can be bought at Chemist Warehouse for under $10. If this product sounds perfect to you, I highly suggest you give it a try. You won’t be disappointed!
