One of the most talented designers to show during fashion month, without question, is Mary Katrantzou. Having only graduated from fashion school in 2008, the mind buckles trying to fathom how much talent this 32 year-old Greek designer must have bottled up!
Mary Katrantzou’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection which she just showed in London is a knock-out. No, it isn’t what you’d wear everyday, and no, it’s not minimal. Far from it.
Her collection is a tribute to everything that has been largely absent from fashion in recent years – rich colour, shine, metallics – and a light splash of 70’s mysticism thrown in for good measure.
As fashion critic Tim Blanks aptly described her dresses: “They were like gazing into the cosmos, with the radiance of a billion stars suspended in a diaphanous darkness.”
