For pregnant mothers, the health of your soon-to-be-born child is your top priority. But in order to make sure that your baby is physically well before they come out into the big wide world, it’s essential that you are fit and healthy yourself!
Most women tend to pop several multivitamins on a regular basis in order to prepare their bodies as multivitamins are shown to greatly boost the immune system and maintain an ideal weight. Maintaining a healthy diet, goes without saying with gentle exercise routines and stretches being an added bonus.
Nutritional pills can supply your baby with the folic acid needed to create a stronger body and you will have lower risks of acquiring the dreaded preeclampsia – a condition wherein your blood pressure is elevated, your urine has too much protein, and you suffer severe fluid retention!
Pregnant mothers should also take Vitamin D as part of your daily diet. This vitamin can regulate the amount of calcium that can be absorbed by the body whilst maintaining phosphorus levels in the blood – two factors that are extremely important for maintaining healthy bones for you and the little one.
Taking Folic Acid is also highly recommended. Folic acid is a vital nutrient that prevents your child from having any birth defects. It is recommended that you take 400 micrograms of folic capsules every day, starting as soon as you learn that you are pregnant. Aside from capsules, you can also get folate by eating green leafy vegetables, cereals, and brown rice.
These are just some of the tips that you can use in order to have a healthier pregnancy. If you have any other health advice for expectant mums, please let us know in the comments below!

Other than the absolute basics, it seems to be something completely case-by-case!
I have to say that the medical advice I received about supplements was different with each pregnancy – and they weren’t that far apart!
As we are all so very different I personally think it’s a great idea to check with your doc before taking pills of any sort while pregnant. A high quality healthy diet is always better than poppin’ pills. Lots of greens are always great!
