#2 – Choose Band Material Carefully
The actual ring portion of the ring (i.e. not the stones) is referred to as the band. There are several options beyond plain gold as far as engagement rings are concerned, such as platinum, white gold, rose gold and mixed metals.
TIP: If you’re looking at a white gold ring, consider choosing platinum instead! While platinum is more expensive, the finish is far superior and will not tarnish or discolour over time. Platinum is also a more hypoallergenic material so it has a lower chance of causing skin irritation to those with sensitive skin.
