Interior Inspiration: The Home Office

For many, the reality of working from home means dining rooms over-run with computers, empty coffee cups and last year’s unfinished BAS statements. It also means holding phone meetings whilst lying on the sofa and a working life that follows you like a shadow pretty much everywhere you go: papers and paraphenalia scattered in the bedroom, cords and gadgets cluttering up the kitchen, no actual place to put anything. It all gets a bit much!

If this sounds familiar, it’s time to look at setting up a proper home office, or even a nook where you can work to your heart’s content, then turn your back. Somewhere neat. Orderly. Glamourous and inspiring. That’s the idea anyway. A designated “command centre” if you will, that’s set up ready to go – enabling you to think with a clear head and kick butt! The holy grail of work spaces, is creating somewhere so well thought out and lovely, that you cannot wait to get there in the morning.

A beautifully “girly” space – light tones offset with matt gold. Inspiration pieces and candles to set the tone. Image: BWA’s Pinterest

The sophisticated yet feminine desk of Jimmy Choo founder, Tamara Mellon. Classic flooring, offset with retro chairs and a Warhol artwork would put anyone in the right frame of mind! Image: BWA’s Pinterest

Monochrome minimalism. Sparse and puritan yet functional and calming. I imagine this is a desk for actually getting work DONE. Image: BWA’s Pinterest

A “fashion person’s” desk for sure! This large desk is not cumbersome when in clear glass. Fashion images and a great computer screen equals a desirable creative haven. Image: BWA’s Pinterest

A fun and youthful desk situation to put a happy spin on being indoors! Love all of these bright colours against white. Image: BWA’s Pinterest

A mid-century vibe offset with a ghost chair and flokati-style rug. Austere yet somehow luxe. Image: BWA’s Pinterest

A thoroughly inspiring work space filled with pattern and texture and plenty to look at. Functional and fashionable (loving the gold accents again!) Image: BWA’s Pinterest

More of a nook than a heavy-hitting desk, although there is plenty of room for a laptop. Love the play of texture and pattern in what seems to be a quietly upholstered environment. Image: BWA’s Pinterest

Heavy drama here. Insomniacs need only apply. The stainless steel desk and slate walls give the otherwise cliche’ baroque touches some modern edge. Love the large-scale fashion photo! Image: BWA’s Pinterest

I have a monochrome office going on in my house but I think it’s in serious need of a pop of colour! What is the best pop colour this season to freshen up my work zone? Green for tranquility or something more vibrant??

These are all gorgeous! The jimmy choo desk is incredible BUT maybe I’m too pratical because although these are all beautiful rooms they are all terrible working chairs for your back. Wow. Unless they are just for show or you are only doing 20 minutes work (and good on you if so you lucky duck) then you would be doing some serious damage or at lease just be uncomfortable. I will with a Harvey miller chair. Sure not be as smoking hot as these chairs but sure am able to sit well all day. The rest are gorgeous. And huge space inspo
