Our favourite sunglass retailer, Sunglass Hut, has partnered with local creative visionaries to showcase their latest collection via a celebration of the Australian summer.
Photographer and artist duo Ted O’Donnell and Vicki Lee have captured the essence of a modern Australian summer, with a shoot that features models Samantha Harris, Yan Yan Chan, Tahnee Atkinson, Zoe Cross and Tom Derrickx.
Showcasing Ted & Vicki’s signature style which fuses photography and abstract imagery, each model in the shoot sports a different pair of designer sunglasses from the latest summer collection at Sunglass Hut.
The images highlight the key sunglass trends for the season such as mirrored lenses and open structure sunglasses, against a backdrop of sand dunes, sun and surf.
“The key trend that you will see continuing this Summer is mirrored lenses. evolving on from previous seasons, we are seeing bright, colourful mirror sunglasses in tones of rose, silver, aqua, bronze and purple from brands,” Francesca Pezzutto, Sunglass Hut Director of Buying, Australia & New Zealand.
“The other key trend for the season is open structure. Frames in this trend have openings in the frame itself or cut directly into the lenses, creating passages of light.”
The collaboration was designed to remind us of the designer and luxury brands of sunglasses carried at the retailer, and the numerous styles available for fun, fashionable people to wear throughout the summer season.
“We wanted to create a look and feel that was reminiscent of the iconic summer photography that we all grew up with, but in a modern way,” states Ted & Vicki.
“Adding sheets of transparent and mirrored Perspex give another dimension to the series; Sun punches through coloured Perspex creating a warm aesthetic, mirrors introduce a sense of nostalgia and reflect white sand, blue water, strong sun. Additionally, we created shadows on some of the images, accentuating the summer feeling.”
