Shopping Post: The Open Back Shirt

Every girl either has one that is perfect for her, or is on the constant search for one: the white shirt. My particular weakness is any silk/cotton blend white shirts. Whenever I see one remotely on sale (5% off $500, bargain!) I make an immediate purchase.

Not that this versatile item of clothing will ever become dated, but have you ever considered looking for a white shirt of a different kind?  I’m talking specifically: the traditional button up front, with a buttoned down / open back.

When I first test drove this trend a couple of months ago on date night, my boyfriend commented that “everyone is staring, they think you are wearing your shirt backwards.” Although I’m convinced that this isn’t a bad thing.

Why? The classic shirt at the front allows you feel preppy, while the open back makes you feel sleek and sexy. However this shirt isn’t just good for date night, mix up your work uniform and wear it to work, or with jeans to brunch…It also makes for perfect errand-running attire.

Think on this, with an open back your back always gets a cool breeze to make sure you’re never hot and always composed. Perfection!

Here’s where you can buy some of the best open backed shirts, with a few striped permutations:
