“Eyes, eyes are the windows to the soul, look into my eyes,” (song lyric from Eyes by Kaskade ft. Mindy Gledhill). Let’s face it eyes are one of the most beautiful features on anyone’s face, so dolling up one’s eyes is a sure must!
Today, I will be reviewing Lancôme’s Hypnôse Drama Mascara, in #01- Excessive Black. Lancôme provides an extensive range of mascaras, alone under the Hypnôse range, there is: the original Hypnôse, Hypnôse Precious Cells, Hypnôse Drama and Hypnôse Doll Lashes. I find this one to be most suitable for me, but you might want to have a play at the makeup counter, just for the correct formula that suits your lashes best!
This mascara for me helps lengthen, thicken, and lift giving beautiful voluminous looking lashes. The colour pigmentation is EXCESSIVE-ly black as the name suggests and the Triple Coating System employed provides great definition for individual lash hairs, giving you that – Oh so dramatic look! The mascara is formulated to contain Pro Vitamin B which after a quick Google Search helps moisturise and thicken the hair, I’m not 100% sure how well it does this, but I’m in heaven with the results I’m getting from this mascara that I really don’t mind- it is just a bonus to know that Lancôme has invested their efforts in not only the final look of the lashes, but also the health of our eyelashes – this product is safe for those who wear contact lens, it has no fragrance, is ophthalmologist and allergy tested to boot!
I don’t have a great deal to say about the packaging- the mascara comes in a sleek black, slightly curved plastic tube with gold printing, (there will be a bit of blue if it is the waterproof formula). The brush is a stable S-shaped brush with fine bristles which grabs onto all the fine lash hairs to provide maximum lift at the roots. Everything about this just-right mascara formula helps to ensure your eyelashes are fanned out and wide open!
I take a while to curl my lashes (with a lash curler from root to tip), I generally do this twice, as unlike some of you lucky BWA sweeties I wasn’t blessed with long naturally curled lashes, mine are very short, sparse and pin straight, in actual fact they point downwards, which is just my luck! Anyway, back to application shall we- The S-shaped brush may prove a little awkward at first but I assure you, after some practise you’ll be batting those pretty lashes to your crush or significant other-and they’ll be head over toes in love –seriously! I generally apply two light coats, once first coat is applied, let dry and apply second coat- eyes at their best – no clumps!
I wholeheartedly recommend this product to all those who are drama queens-no, I’m only kidding, I meant for anyone who loves the wide-eyed innocent look! I’ll give it a 9/10, seeing as it’s a high end mascara, hence expensive for 6.5g/0.23oz of product, but not to worry, purchase here at YesStyle.com for $33.00 AUD sans the $55.00 price tag at most department stores!
