It’s hard to even imagine that once upon a time, the leather moto jacket was reserved exclusively for punk rock pioneers and Hollywood bad boys. Now a can’t-live-without-you closet staple for people of all walks of life, the moto jacket has embedded itself firmly into our wardrobes and shows no signs of leaving anytime soon. Even though the leather moto jacket has become part of nearly every person’s uniform, it hasn’t lost a smidge of coolness.
One of the most useful and versatile pieces you can own, the leather moto jacket can look completely different depending on how it’s styled, and it’s a key trans-seasonal piece that can be worn (almost) all year round. Like we need any more convincing, but as Linda Ayepe, a buyer at Net-A-Porter.com attests “They’re a great transitional piece and are key for layering with comfy knits.”
This season, there is more to the leather moto jacket than ever before. Oversized, embroidered, embellished – the classic moto has had a makeover, with many labels devising exciting new ways for us to wear this classic favourite. And, according to runways and street style, the ways we are working the moto jacket into our outfits is seeing an update too.
Whilst denim bottoms are a no-brainer and will forever be an acceptable way to style a moto jacket, for a completely 2016-look, wear your moto jacket with everything from wide-legged trousers to leggings, to active wear, and other leather items.
