The Top Five Biggest Beauty No-No’s

Let’s face it,not all of us are makeup artists and alot of us are sussing the beauty game out without guidance.

Enter, the thousands of girls who step out of the house every day committing some of the biggest beauty no-no’s ever. It’s the sort of thing that you will look back on in photos in twenty years and cringe.

Today we’re fighting the cringe with our our checklist to avoiding the biggest beauty no-no’s and how to avoid them!

1. Overdoing the fake tan.

I have many tanorexic friends, that have openly stated that they would rather be streaky and orange than pale. It’s a sad reality, and we need to let our fellow women know that pale is as beautiful as tanned! Beauties like Lily Cole and Christina Hendricks are thankfully leading the march.

Combat this with: If you overdo the tan, we have an amazing fake tan removal how-to guide here.

2. Overplucked brows.

Too thin, unflattering brows make a face look weird and disproportionate. The brows frame the face and we have all been guilty of over plucking and then repeating. Put down the tweezers. We repeat, put down the tweezers and go to a professional.

Combat this with: It will be hard…let your brows grow back in. It will look horrid while its happening, all messy and unruly, but once you have you can go to a professional.

3. The chin foundation line.

This probably makes me cringe more than anything else. There is nothing that looks worse than that mucky foundation line that runs around the chin because someone hasn’t matched their foundation properly and hasn’t attempted to blend. The reasons are simple- your skin changes colour season to season and your foundation ends up not matching.

Combat this with: Stock up on a few shades (I have about ten, but three is good) so you can mix them together depending on your skin colour.

4.  Flakey specs of mascara.

Flaking mascara is a sign of letting it get to old, and many women are guilty of letting their makeup go old (this is really really bad!). Flakey mascara leaves all those unsightly black smudges underneath your eyes and on your cheeks and ends up making you look like you’ve been cleaning soot out of chimneys.

Combat this with: Throw your old mascaras out!! Also try waterproof mascara for longer lasting wear.

5. Overdoing the bronzer.

This is a seriously overdone one. I see girls on a Friday night that have taken their kabuki brushes and just piled on the bronzer on their cheeks (shudder). Often its because there is too much shimmer in the bronzer- matte is always best if you are unsure with what you’re doing!

Combat this with: Like we mentioned matte is best. Make sure you are contouring in the right places. Rae Morris has a great how to here.
