4. The Hadids – Bella is following in the footsteps of her sister

Whilst Gigi Hadid has taken the Internet by storm, with countless fashion campaigns, editorials and runway shows under her belt, her little sister (who is only a year younger) has also stepped onto the limelight. 18-year-old Bella Hadid landed an editorial for the Vogue Australia April issue. The rising new model elegantly poses in Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana.

In one of the photos, Hadid showcases a long sleeve pastel pink dress with a vintage print, white Dolce & Gabbana heels with a rose design, paired with white socks. In a black and white classic photo, Hadid poses nonchalantly on her side, showcasing round earrings and a Louis Vuitton zig-zag patterned top. In a full body shot, Hadid sits with her legs apart, strutting a Michael Kors green dress, paired with a white-buttoned shirt.

5. France and Denmark are trying to battle eating disorders and anorexia in the modelling industry

France and Denmark are becoming stricter with the modelling industry in order to fight eating disorders and anorexia. According to thinkprogress.org, legislation is being debated in the French Parliament, which would set a minimum weight for models in France. The legislation would ban the hiring of models with a BMI measurement less than the agreed minimum.

Denmark is taking a different approach. Instead of legislating against skinny models, the country has rewritten the Danish Fashion Ethical Charter which is compiled by bodies such as the Model Union Denmark and the Danish Fashion Institute. The new charter calls for initiatives such as healthy food being available to models during photo shoots, and regular health check-ups. Denmark hopes to ban fashion houses from Copenhagen Fashion Week should they fail or refuse the charter’s rules.
