It’s time to grab your handbag game by the handles. What will you be carrying next season? And how will you be carrying it? The bags that graced the runways at the AW17 shows gave us new shapes, reinventions of classics and a bucket-load of experimentation with colour and texture.
No more of the humble, practical handbag: they’re taking centre stage in their own right. We may be guilty of casting accessories aside when looking for inspiration of what to wear next season, but not anymore. They can make or break what your outfit, it’s as simple as that.
Here are five of the biggest bag trends straight off of the runways, so drop your totes and get scrolling…
#1 – Turn Me Round
We’ve come full circle from the box bag: think of it as it’s younger, fresher little sister. At Mulberry, round, hatbox-type affairs with both a shoulder strap and a centre handle – introduced as the Trunk Back – were main stage. The new shape in town was also spotted at John Galliano and Chloe, to name a couple. It’s elegant, classic and toting a hands-free vessel in wintry temperatures is always a good idea.
