BWA Chats To…Ashli, Of The Influencer

We catch up with another founding member of THE INFLUENCER about all things career, style and life.

Tell us your name, and how you got involved with The Influencer?

Ashli Templer. THE INFLUENCER was formed with two best friends, Alice McGenniss-Destro and Alyce Cowell. We all met whilst working at Sportsgirl many years ago and bonded over the love of fashion and journalism. Our aim was to combine our various backgrounds in the industry and bring three different styles and personalities to the table.

What’s your career path up until this point?

After high school I completed my Bachelor Degree in Fashion Product Development and Merchandising. As soon as the certificate hit my hand I jumped on a plane and moved to New York for a little over a year.

I worked that as a Fashion Buyer and also freelanced for companies such as Jimmy Choo and Versace. I returned from the Big Apple mid 2012 and somehow convinced myself doing my Masters in Communication would be a great idea. I’m currently in my last semester whilst working in Communications Bardot. I look after the social media channels, assist in the monthly photo shoots and help create creative marketing concepts.

What are your all time favourite pieces in your wardrobe?

Hands down, my leopard print coat.

What is your style mantra?

If you like it, wear it. (NOTE – this does not include wearing a onsie in public)

Key pieces for the upcoming season?

Bralettes are a fave of mine – perfect for layering and adding something sexy, yet grungy.

Birkenstocks are back- Although they were the most hated shoe two years ago, we’ve somehow grown to love them – if you haven’t, just wait.

Jumpsuits – they’re currently all over Europe and will be all over Australia’s wardrobes very very soon

Who or what inspires you day to day?

There’s no one in particular thing that inspires me everyday but I am a strong believer in trying your hardest in everything you do because it will help you in the future! Yes, another karma spiel.

What are your three tips to shopping online?

1 – Do your research! Google the item you want – it could be cheaper somewhere else!
2 – Check the terms and conditions of returns. It’s always a pain when you can’t return it if it doesn’t fit. It will just be added to your ‘I’m going to sell you on Ebay’ pile that you started three years ago.
3 – ALWAYS check the sizing guide. Not all brands have correct sizing.

If you could have breakfast with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be and why?

Might be cliche but Christine Centenera. She’s got great style and I would love to hear about, you know, just a casual day in the Vogue office

good interview, tells me I probably don’t share her style preferences, but makes her sound interesting anyway.
