Beauty How-To: Tips & Tricks For Summer Hair Health

Don’t let too much fun in the sun ruin your locks this Summer. Whether you have short hair or long, these four steps will keep your hair stunning (and healthy!) this season…

START

Retain colour – swimming in the pool or the sea, or even just being out in the sun a lot more than usual will take it’s toll on your hair. Pretty soon, colour will fade and if there’s any chlorine around…. look out!

So, start your style with a quality shampoo. If you have coloured hair, a shampoo geared for retaining colour is a must. The best ones contain Flavonoids and UV-Filters which act as an anti-oxidant to protect our hair from the dehydrating sun. Try: Aesop Colour Protectant Shampoo.

STYLE

Add a volumizing spray such as Kevin Murphy Anti Gravity Spray. It increases body, volume and fullness and will be much easier to style (especially if you want that big, bouncy Victoria’s Secret hair – for a tutorial on that, click here.) However, do try to go easy on the curling wands (or at least save them for special occasions!)

As summer is much about effortless beauty (and managing the effects of the climate, let’s face it!) the “beachy” look is a winner and takes little to no effort to achieve. Simply spritz damp hair with a sea-salt spray, scrunch, and leave it to dry naturally. For a naturally un-done wave, tie freshly-spritzed damp hair into one or two loose low buns then release when dry.

FINISH

Fight the humidity by finishing with an anti-humidity protectant. KMS have developed an Anti-Humidity seal, which his designed to retain style and fight dreaded frizz.

NOURISH

If you care about your hair health and especially if you colour your hair, then a hair mask is a must during summer. Masks restore hair from environmental elements like the sun and wind, and penetrate deep into the hair where regular conditioners do not go. Popular masks such as the MOROCCAN OIL Restorative Hair Mask repairs damage to the hair and rebuilds elasticity, preventing further damage by reconstructing the hair cells. Applied for 7-10 minutes every week, and your tresses will thank you for it.

Dear, Vanessa, it’s really a helpful tips for the girls. Thank you for your post.
Whether its summer or winter our hair needs something special throughout the year. But in summer due to the sun rays and UV rays the damage tendency gets more severe than winter! So I always prefer my hairs to tie up in a braid ore bun whenever I step-out and most of the time I use a scarf to cover the hair from sun! There are few brands which has mild chemical reaction and other brands which contain all the herbal ingredients. So at my end, I always prefer the mild chemicals ones and herbal ones for my hair especially. We have many hair spa cream available in the market, at the weekend we can use any of that! I always prefer the L’Oreal Paris hair care products and other professional products. Due to this hot season I hardly make to super stores for my daily purchases, so to protect me and my hair I prefer online shopping, and for my hair care product I always prefer orderandsave, because they have a wide range of L’Oreal Paris and professional products.
