BY: VANESSA ROBERTS

Let’s face it, no one ever hankers for shorter lashes. If you’ve ever wanted longer lashes you are a) not alone b) probably bamboozled every time you visit a Sephora store!

There are countless boosting and accelerating mascaras, all promising bambi-style lashes in seconds – not to mention the myriad of false lash options and styles available for everyday wear (who knew there could be so many varieties?)

And for the seriously lash-challenged, there are lash serums like Borboleta and Latisse (yes, that one’s actually doctor-prescribed).

And the best part is, you’ll very likely already have all the things you need at home to start on your natural lash growing process.

So read on to discover how to get longer lashes – naturally.

Lash-piration. Lovely, full, natural-looking lashes. Who wouldn’t want them?

Here are 3 super-easy recipes for DIY lash acceleration:

Longer Lashes Recipe # 1:

Combine 1 tablespoon melted warm honey, 2 tsp water and 2 tablespoons olive oil or pure coconut oil into a small travelling bottle. Shake. Apply to damp, clean eyelashes using your fingers or a cotton bud. Make sure to cover the whole lash.

Do this once a day and you will notice incredible growth! (This mix is also great for the hair on your head too, however if you are prone to oily hair, sprinkle some baking soda in mixture before applying.)

Longer lashes Recipe #2:

Buy an empty travelling plastic bottle. Fill it half way with coconut oil. Then add 2/4 of almond oil and 1/4 of castor oil. Make sure all oils are pure and unrefined. This helps to retain the oil’s nutritional benefits. Then mix, shake, and apply!

This is a great boost for eyebrows, eyelashes and anywhere else on your body.

Longer Lashes Recipe # 3:

Combine 1/4 Castor Oil + 1/2 Vitamin E Oil + 1/4 Aloe Vera Gel into a small container. Mix , shake and apply either with a q-tip or a super-clean mascara wand. Apply a light layer to lashes (or brows) every night before bed.

The castor oil thickens your lashes while aloe vera gel lengthens. Vitamin E accelerates length. Give it a month for results.

Some of those I didn’t know %) Thank you so much. I love those oils on my lashes, but not Petroleum jelly!.. Come on it’s purely chemical. If to talk about anything except castor oil and other oils, I would name Cherish Lash. It’s really helpful and you would love its effect too. I shall share this informative article

Try a half travel bottle (new and clean) of castor oil, 2 TBSP pure aloe vera gel, and poke a hole in 2 capsules of Vitamin E oil and mix together. Use a clean mascara wand or a Q-Tip to apply to the base of your lashes and your entire lashes, if you use the Q-Tip. You will notice a difference in your lashes fairly quickly because they will be moisturized. You will notice the growth within 3-4 weeks. You can use it on your eyebrows too! Mine have changed and grown immensely!

I love your lash tip #2 to condition with Vaseline at night and it will result in a more pronounced, stronger and longer lash! It’s things like that, that make me want to take a beauty course and create amazing ideas like this. Thanks for your great article to help all of us, not just the mums with no time. Thanks!

Do you rinse these serums off after a certain amount of time? Will try first serum but defs not Vaseline. It’s Petrolium jelly= petrol HELLO? Not something you should put near your eyes!

Do you rinse it off after a while? Because otherwise your eyelashes would be sticky

It really works but you have to do it every night for about 3 months it does wonders

Lash serums really work – a cheap one that you can apply every nite with a thin brush is Careprost. After 5-6 weeks I can get my lashes to touch my eyebrows, they look thicker and darker also.

Simplest methods are the ones using Vaseline and baby oil with easy to find items.

Guys Vaseline is not good for you… Your eyelashes may grow but they will be prone to breakage and may cause harm to your eyes

Interesting.. I’m always a bit cynical about miracle treatments, but these seem practical enough to be real. I’ll try at least one.

I used to use an old clean mascara bottle with caster oil and put it on my lashes each night, i got slack and stopped but this has reminded me to get back into it!
