Product Review: Avène’s Thermal Spring Water

Hello my beautiful BWA darlings, today I am reviewing Avène’s Eau Thermale- which is French for the infamous Avène thermal spring water- hypoallergenic and preservative free. It claims to “soothe and soften” sensitive skin and I thought I’ll give everyone a heads up about this lovely product.

I purchased the 300ml/ Net Wt. 10.58 Oz./300g to get my value worth of product, seeing as it is another expensive item, retailing at approximately $28.95 at most leading pharmacies.

PRODUCT:

I know some of you guys might be asking, but isn’t this just pure spring water in a sterile can?

Well, to put it quite bluntly, yes and no- yes it is spring water, but this spring water is derived from the Avène-las-Bains thermal spring in France which has been dermatologically proven to have skin benefits, especially for those who suffer from ‘sensitive, hypersensitive and allergic skin,’ like myself. As stated on the can “This thermal spring water’s unique and constant composition gives it soothing and softening properties for sensitive skin” and for me this is true! Spray the ultra fine mist straight onto one’s face ensuring no product is wasted on a cotton pad – additionally it doesn’t strip skin of all its natural oils, like many other toners I’ve tried. The product can also be employed as a makeup setting spray, settling skin after removal of hair, sunburn relief etc… Avène recommends usage for cleansing, during summer, after outdoor activity, during travel, and it is even safe to use on baby skin!

PACKAGING:

The cans are packaged on site; this ensures that the thermal water arrives to you sterile. I purchased the largest size, it comes in the travel size at 50mL and a 150mL can- on a side note Avène does offer a range of other products also containing this thermal spring water, but I thought I would just go straight for the actual goodness itself. Product appearance- matte white metal spray can with sturdy plastic lid something reminiscent of a hair spray, or a deodorant and the product is dispensed in the exact same way!

APPLICATION:

It has become an essential in my daily skincare routine for morning and night- I scrub/cleanse my face, pat dry and spray this all over for toning purposes. Let the fine mist settle for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, and apply your favourite moisturiser. I feel it helps my skin absorb the moisturiser/night cream better and at a quicker rate, so no product is left sitting on the surface of my face- now complexion is dewy and fresh!

It’s a must have for me, I won’t rate this one as everyone’s skin is different and I can’t vouch for all skin types, but if you suffer from combination skin- aka oily T-zone and dry cheeks, I hope you give it a try!

Purchase here for $22.99  at Chemistwarehouse.

Love,
Midnight*fish

Interesting, though you can take high mineral and amino acid content supplements/powders for the same effect and benefits the inside body too.
