Audrey Talks: Jeans For Genes Day

Jeans- JAG / Jumper- GAP / Shoes – Audace from The Iconic / Bag – Cloth from The Iconic

Jeans for Genes Day is today!!

This is the charities 20th year running and the day is held to raise awareness and to encourage all of us to donate to such a worthy cause.

To put it in simple terms…

1 in 20 kids is born in Australia with a genetic disease or birth defect.
$2 will buy enough crucial enzymes to test the blood of one patient for aggressive types of cancers
$5 buys a plastic ’96-in-one’ test tube to screen 96 potential epilepsy drugs at once
$10 gives scientists 200 mini test tubes to help discover genes that cause blindness in children. CMRI scientists have already discovered 12.
$1000 helps CMRI scientist test a new drug to treat cancer, epilepsy, or other neurological conditions

Jeans are a STAPLE in my closet, so this is a win win…wear my all time favourite pieces in my wardrobe and raise awareness for something so important.

Genetic conditions are so widespread, yet most people don’t even think about them – I’d never thought of genetic deafness, and then it occured in my son although it’d never shown up anywhere in the family previously! This may impact on you in totally unexpected ways, so please consider donating.
