Six Of The Sexiest Denim Bottoms To Shop Now

I don’t know where I would be without denim. And to be honest, I probably wear wayyyy too much of it! Thankfully denim in all incarnations is huge this season so I’m in luck. The biggest trend of all which has stuck around for a while now is of course, “double denim” but I’ll be covering that in an upcoming post.

So for bottoms – it’s all about denim in distress. (Poor denim!) That’s the cultivated worn-out look with rips and shreds in all of the right places. Baggy “boyfriend jeans” (top middle) are in my opinion the hardest to pull off, so I would suggest sticking to a fairly slim leg like the one shown, rather than taking things too literally and ending up in baggy town. Whenever I attempt the boyfriend jean I can only really walk out  of the house with confidence when paired with a heel or ankle boot of some sort. But many people can pull the look off with flats (or slides to be precise), so it’s completely up the individual and what you are used to wearing.

Slim-fit denim pencil skirts are super sexy, and nod to the 90’s in a glamourous and womanly way. I still have an old wrangler straight denim skirt somewhere I bought way back then, and I think I’ll be digging it out this season for sure… if I can still fit into it!

Denim shorts are showing no sign of falling off the fashion radar anytime soon. Distressed and shredded are obviously the way to go, and whilst shopping around I don’t think I saw ANY versions that were sans distress of some kind. Like all denim, you can team your denim shorts with pretty much anything, however my best suggestions for this season would be: an off the shoulder peasant blouse, a fine (almost flimsy) t-shirt, a striped boxy t-shirt, or a pretty camisole would work really well also. A minimalistic camisole will modernise the look, whereas an intricate or patterned cami will give a more relaxed, beachy vibe.

For me , the skinny jean is still the ultimate for adaptability. I am always in jeans and heels for meetings, casual events and date nights. For casual wear I team skinny jeans in any colour with flat riding boots, a low-heeled ankle boot, ballerina flats or converse. The key to wearing skinny jeans tastefully is to pare it with a looser-fitting top (chunky knit, oversized jacket, sweater or t-shirt) and avoiding anything that is too skimpy or tight.

I prefer the jeans without the holes – they’d be warmer than the one’s with the slashes.
