Audrey Product Review: New Palmolive Hand Sanitiser Collection

Handbag essentials.

Ever wondered why Karl Lagerfeld and Michael Jackson (RIP) are known for their prolific wearing of gloves? It’s got less to do with the cultivation of an eccentric look and a lot more to do with an aversion to the spread of germs. Any germ-avoider would shrink away in horror at the mere idea of shaking as many hands as either of these two, we’re talking millions of hands over the course of a lifetime. EEK!

However human germ factories are not limited to the stratosphere of international celebrity, with very many ordinary folk also wary about the spread of germs through regular day-to-day activity. After eating, shaking hands, using public transport, playing with pets, going to the gym, or just hanging in the office, there are countless times throughout any given day that you’d like a little freshen but it’s often really inconvenient (or impossible) to do so. And if you happen to work in a shop and handle money all day long (like I did in a previous life), then a hand sanitiser is a definite must!

So when Palmolive asked me to trial their new range of deluxe hand sanitisers I was actually really happy to see what this new breed were like. With three new fruit-inspired fragrances (I keep thinking of them as “flavours”) such as Fig & Coconut, Crisp Green Apple, Raspberry, these are hand sanitisers on a new level, and I would equate using them with say, a super-deluxe body wash. There is no more of the traditional clinical smell, and I found them to be non-sticky – leaving my hands feeling slightly silky and definitely fresh. A winner, and really worth switching to.

Factoids: The range’s antibacterial formula kills 99.9% of germs. Priced at $3.69 for a 48mL bottle (perfect for handbags, baby-bags or gym bags) and the large 250mL pump is $9.58. Available through major and local supermarkets as well as pharmacies. You can read more about it here.

Are you one of the 50% of Australian’s who use hand-sanitiser to avoid germs daily? Let us know in the comments below (and get Audrey Dollars just for doing so!)

My favourite was the fig & coconut as I am a sucker for anything coconut! It really is an improvement on the old types. As for kids and babies, I wonder what people did before such things as hand-sanitiser existed?!

You mention babies and kids only in the picture caption – yet they’re the main reason I go through litres of hand sanitiser! Will be trying these.

I have used hand-sanitiser before and am thinking of getting one now. For me, it’s the Crisp Green Apple that I would like to try.

Oooh nice – both sound great but the Fig & Coconut especially! I don’t tend to use a hand sanitiser daily – I just use a botanical based soap mostly.

these look great! Almost like a face scrub with all the little beads as there pretty unique for a hand soap, i’ll definitely grab one of the smaller ones to try out!
