Dion Lee’s Inspiring Collection for Woolmark

He may have lost out to Belgian designer Christian Wiljnants for the International Woolmark Prize but there’s no question about it, Aussie designer Dion Lee did us so very proud with his stellar collection for Woolmark.

For the collection Dion stuck to his signature structural aesthetic, creating a beautiful range of garments including coats, skirts, jumpers and jackets. He was inspired by the work of Danish architect Jorn Utzon, the man who designed the Sydney Opera House, and the results can only be described as architectural works of art in themselves.

Dion incorporated his now famous spinal detailing (as seen on that jacket) on many of the garments, as well as fusing an Australian signature – the classic akubra hat – with a beautiful wool coat.

With Dion Lee very much in the spotlight on the world stage, we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next and we are so excited for this talented young Australian designer!

Check out Mr Lee’s amazing creations below as worn by Australia’s Next Top Model alumni Cassi Van Den Dungen.

Dion Lee really has captured what EVERYONE has to do today, and that is to have that “different”. It is extremely necessary to stand out in the crowd.
There are literally thousands of people wanting to be successful designers but only a handful become world renown.
Lee using both his signature spinal detail and incorporating typically Australian items such as the Akubra hat, has carve a niche for himself by being, not only undeniably extremely talented, but “different”.
Well done to Dion Lee, a proud Australian designer.
