Dion Lee has released the spectacular campaign shots for his Autumn Winter 2013 collection, titled “Transit”, which has us chomping at the bit for these pieces to hit stores,
Lee truly shows off his skills as an artisan, manipulating leather and fabrics with with unique tailoring. The collection shows the designers constant evolution and maturity, with the pieces flattering the female form better than ever.
Lee uses bi-stretch fabrics and surgically sliced knitwear to create an elegant, unique contouring with backless shapes, adding a certain sex appeal to the woman to whom this collection speaks. Lee’s use of sheer fabrics, layered to appear almost at one with the body create evening wear silhouettes.
The most striking thing, other than that sliced jacket that Christine Centenera has been sporting all over the globe, is Lee’s distinct eye for prints. Panels of wearable art which swirl like weather patterns watched from on high. These prints are slashed and folded to create an even more dramatic 3D effect. Photographed with a thermal imaging camera, the prints were developed from a still life capture of the human body- the images distorted to mirror topographic lines, mapping the body like a geographic structure.
Collection available instore February & March 2012. www.dionlee.com
