Colour can be a scary thing. Too little and you look like Morticia Addams, too much and you look like rainbow vomit. So it’s not surprising that when faced with colourful beauty products, we um and ah over them before deciding to play it safe and avoid them altogether. However, if this spring/summer you’re feeling brave and want to walk on the bright side (but you’re concerned about looking over the top) here are some gorgeous middle ground options.
Peach Lips
Peach is one of the most beautiful and flattering colours on the market. Not quite pink and not quite nude, it’s perfect if you want to try a little bit colour, but not too much. The best bit is that unlike pinks, reds and plums, you can still play up your eyes without it looking ghoulish. You can grab a peach coloured lipstick here.
Pastel Eyes
All the most delicious treats come in pastels; cupcakes, macaroons, fairy floss. Something about these colours is so ladylike. You can kind of imagine Blush, Violet and Mint laughing haughtily over scones at a high tea, can’t you? Pastels are lovely and gentle looking, so aren’t as attention grabbing as neon. All it takes to make these colours work is a soft sweep of eyeshadow across your eyelids, and nude tones everywhere else on your face. Try out a pastel eyeshadow here.
Neon Nails
If you don’t want anything bright within a one metre radius of your face, then neon nails are definitely the way to go. They make any outfit pop and look great when the colour contrasts from that of your clothes and accessories. Neon screams summer, and there are so many excellent nail polish colours to choose from, some of which you can find right here. The hardest part about this trend is deciding which colour to use first.
