Burberry Prorsum’s shows are one of the highlights of my fashion calendar. I have so much respect and admiration Christopher Bailey, especially in his progressive attitude to the online realm and his innovation in exploring how he can push his pieces and shows to the next level.
This year’s Spring 2013 show was no exception- with a three pronged attack- continuing on with their international live streaming, streaming to their flagship store in London, and the LFW show that ensured that millions of eyeballs all around the world were glued to Bailey’s latest creations.
Bailey’s take on the Burberry trench soared to new heights in soaring from crisp white to dazzling ruched pink, copper, with lace and feather embellishments. ”so intense,” said the designer, “you could wring them out.”
Bailey cited “British glamour” as his girl for the season and the elegance of the 40′s definitely shone through. Of course, on trend peplums, mid pencil skirts, capes, corsets and vibrant shorts were all part of the mix.
Bailey’s embrace of innovation and the future has elevated the deeply rooted British brand to a new level of artistic expression, not to mention a hugely successful business empire.
