The 1950’s saw the conclusion of what was an era of fear and loss caused by World War II. Products and services were suddenly available that rationing had limited or altogether abolished, and as a result of this, the beauty industry boomed. While the 1940’s revolved around minimalism and the natural look, the 50’s was all about colour, glamour and polished femininity. Eyebrows were thick and defined (hello Elizabeth Taylor), lips were full and red, and eyes were accentuated with a generous application of winged eyeliner.
