Winson Tan, Gabriel Lee, Crystal Tsoi & Ayaka Ichikawa showcased their Spring Summer 12/13 collections at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and brought their A game with unique and innovative designs that herald a bright future for the Australian fashion industry.
23-year old Winson Tan opened the show with his ready-to-wear label, NOSNIM. The talented designer is set to begin work for Viktor & Rolf in the coming weeks, and his design prowess was clear in the collection. The 15 look collection featured nature inspired prints in a beautiful silk chiffon. Mandarin, turquoise , jumpsuits in poppy tones and prints meant that the runway was an explosion of colour.
Crystal Tsoi’s collection titled ‘In Flux’ featured intricate patterns and cut-outs designs in long maxi dresses.Bringing muted tones more associated with winter to her summer collection, Tsoi brought a unique spin to her Spring/Summer pieces.
Ayaka Ichikawa debuted her label Aquintic which has been inspried by the orient, with a modern western twist.
Gabriel Lee closed the show with his debut SS12/13 collection ‘Unstable Beings’. The 15 look collection was oh-so-pretty and featured impeccably tailored jackets, matched with highwaisted sheer suit shorts.
There was a distinct femininity to the tailoring and dainty tones, emphasized with impeccably chosen accessories like lovely poppy socks worn with stilettos.
A group of designers to make the industry proud, we can’t wait to see whats next from these talented graduates!
