There is something about Zimmermann in the last 2 years that have brought their fashion and swimwear ranges to a whole new level. For their latest cruise collection named “‘Clique Clique” you could not have asked for a more beautifully created and cohesive range. Held in a vast open industrial space, with mirror panels draping from the ceiling I knew this was gong to be an impressive show.
Described as a “revival of the new romantic” athletic silhouettes added a distinct edge that toned down the shabby chic florals that took over the runway. It came in all forms from aviator style sleeveless jackets and jumpsuits to bomber jackets and sheer paneled dresses. If you thought that the capri pants would never be able to make a return think again, although I am unsure if this trend will make a revival.
Minty greens complemented the entire collection while they cleverly played the print on print trend, with hints of lurex and lace giving a much needed break from the overload of florals. The clever use of geometric lazer cutting throughout added a whole new dimension to oversized jackets, swimwear and midi skirts and transformed those sports inspired styles into delicate pieces that floated down the runway.
Zimmermann have cleverly constructed a powerful feminine collection and one that will definitely differentiate them from other designers who have taken on similar trends this season.
