Dear September Guest Blog: Vintage Dinner Party Style Ideas

Stay tuned for Dear September‘s regular guest column bringing us their top home styling tips!

Add some old world glamour to your dinner party, birthday, wedding or next special event by using miss-matched plates and silver cutlery from second hand stores!

Crochet or embroidered table cloths add an extra vintage feel and can often be found at second hand stores or on ebay.

Have fun mixing colours and patterns and head to a couple of your local second hand stores to collect different plates and pieces from each. We collected vintage dinner and bread plates, mixing them with silver cutlery our grandma had given us!

Tiny glass bottles with fresh flowers make a pretty centre piece or make it extra special and tie manila tags to the bottles, giving each guest one as a place setting!  Small succulents in the glass bottles make for a fresh twist instead of flowers!

Collect glass bottles as things empty out of your fridge or a range of different glass bottles are available at www.dearseptember.com.au, we also have a complete vintage dinner set for 20 people available for hire to Sydney residents.

What are your tips for a beautiful vintage style dinner party?

I love flower petals scattered across the table. They don’t have to be all the same colour or flower, but they make for a great colour uplift and they can be a few days old too…

Mix-matching cutlery are a great one too
