For me, the mind boggles that things like racism and homophobia still exist in a society that is so advanced in so many other ways.
The latest manifestation of this ridiculous idiocy is the campaign that “One Million Moms” has launched against Urban Outfitters latest campaign which features two girls kissing.
“The April 2012 catalog from Urban Outfitters has begun arriving in home mailboxes the last couple of days. On page two of this catalog is a picture of two women kissing in a face holding embrace! The ad and catalog are clearly geared toward teenagers. The content is offensive and inappropriate for a teen who is the company’s target customer.”
This is the same group that campaigned against Ellen De Generes as the face of JC Penney. FYI Seal has totally been kissing contestants on The Voice in the exact same way and no one has any complaints (am I the only one who thinks its weird?).
While the move on Urban Outfitters part may have been a little press hungry, it certainly shouldn’t be seen as any less improper than a girl and a guy kissing.
What do you think of the hubbub surrounding the new campaign?
