Hey BWA lovers! It’s Aprilia from ApriliaLove.com here, guest blogging about one of my favourite trends: the hippie chic.
The 1960’s have been a great influence on modern society, especially on designer runways as well as in fashion magazines around the world. The decade of the 60’s has got to be one of my favourite fashion eras in history. Some of the world’s most idolized style icons also originate from the 1960’s, which include Audrey Hepburn, Bridgette Bardot, Jane Birkin and Jane Fonda.
If you look back at the 60’s, many of today’s trends and designs have taken the foundation pieces from those years and have added a modern twist to them. We’ve seen the mini skirt, the shift dress, bell-bottom jeans, tie-dye and even the bikini all worn today, when they were originally invented over 50 years ago!
My personal favourite trend within the period of the 1960’s has got to be towards the end of the decade’s hippie movement. This is when women started wearing flared pants, tie-dye, headbands and paisley prints – all things that I share a love for today.
You can find a huge amount of hippie inspired fashion all over the Internet and throughout various retailers. I personally scoured online shopping sites, ASOS and Topshop and put together my own personal hippie chic look (with a modern twist of course!).
What do you think of the trend? Are you a fan?
