My ultimate dream is to get married in Marchesa. This is something that I know will be unrealized, although a girl can always hope!
For Fall 2012 RTW, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig did not disappoint us with princess-esque gowns. However they did offer something past the usual Oscar worthy ball gown in the way of the rare cocktail length dress that has potential make its way into your office wear rotation.
That said, the floor sweeping gowns that simply take your breath away were there in full force. The classic Marchesa lace was immaculate as always. A touch of laser cut leather referenced the Fall 2012 trends that we can expect to see.
The designers took their inspiration from late-nineteenth-century French painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s A Soul Brought to Heaven according to Style.com and the references are clear in the pieces- in the feathers, representations of light and dark and winged embroidery.
The fashion industry talks all the time about “clever design” and Marchesa is truly the embodiment of that, and so much more. It is artwork and fashion combined into one, creating something that is so painfully exquisite that it lets us escape to a far away dream world, just for a moment.
