Is it weird that I am excited even at the notion that Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte fame have taken design cues from Australia?
The talented sisters have been working for the past year to make the move into a more commercial market, and it seems to have come together finally in the Fall collection.
While it still retains its whimsical aesthetic, the duo have taken inspiration from the Australian outback- clear in shearling jackets and Australian Aborigine inspired hand painting silk prints.
There was one back flip to the high end couture pieces Rodarte is so well known in their new shoe line, some of which feature perspex heels filled with sand- another homage to us Aussies!
What do you think of the collection?
