Here at BWA, when it comes to cosmetics nothing is more loved than a great Australian made and based brand…except perhaps mineral makeup. Or a cosmetics brand that is brave enough to step up and try something different. Sometimes, you get lucky and find a combination of all three.
Enter LRW by sister duo Lauren and Roxanne Watts. LRW is a mineral makeup brand with a difference that began when Lauren encountered a problem most of us have had to deal with at some point in our lives – discontinued product and an unavailablity of certain shades year-round due to seasonal trends. This prompted her to experiment and create her own line of perenially available eyeshadow shades. Sister Roxanne came aboard and now creates the lipgloss range alongide Lauren.
As well as the idea to create eyeshadows that can be purchased at any time of year, LRW’s products can be purchased at any time, period. Once a shade joins the ranks it is there to stay. This means you never have to sweat it about needing to buy an apocalytpic stash in case your shadow soul mate stops being produced. New collections are released thrice-yearly, allowing homegrown LRW to get bigger and better with each release. The real clincher though? All product is made to order, with the option to request your own shade to be mixed by the girls. 100% fresh, custom, Australian made, mineral makeup? Who really needs more convincing?
I find it incredibly easy to do the hard sell when it comes to LRW due to my own experiences with it. Before even being aware that the product was custom made, I found the eyeshadow noticeably easy to work with and had no issues with blending or getting the shadow to stay on my eyelid after extended periods of wear. The eyeshadow is one of those wonderful products that stays put when you want it to, and is easily removed when you want it off. It is highly pigmented and most of the shades have a delightfully subtle shimmer through them, rendering them appropriate for day or night, depending on the colour.
The eyeshadows come in a choice of either a handy little 5 or 10 gram jar with a sifter on top which means no accidental spillage or wastage. They’re perfect for not cluttering your makeup bag, ideal for traveling with and small enough that you could easily own two or three of all of your fave shades with room to spare. And with prices starting at $7.50 per jar, there is no reason to not make that dream a reality. My advice? Get in quickly and shop their products here before they begin to boom even more.
