SAX is still a fairly new brand that isn’t very well known in Australia yet. – however it is widely stocked around Australia, New Zealand and other countries. You can check their website for stockists.
My first impression of this product
Being more of an international makeup brand whore, I had actually never heard of this brand before. I was a little hesitant when I saw their low prices, and instantly thought it must be another “repackaged” Designer Brands.
I was surprised and proven wrong however, once I opened up the package. Neat.
For such a low price (RRP $14.95), I wonder how they could have put in such amazing packaging? The packaging of the kit almost looked like a little book. The front cover had an amazingly high def picture of a “sultry eye”, and an elastic band is wrapped around it to avoid it being opened unnecessarily.
The SAX Sultry Eyes make-up kit consists of:
- 4 eyeshadows (highlight, crease shade, all over lid shade, and blending shade)
- 1 volumising mascara
- 1 black liquid eyeliner
- 1 travel size double sided sponge/brush applicator
- Mirror
What I think
For the affordable price of this make up kit, you can create a neutral everyday eye or a night sultry smokey eye (as the name of the kit suggests). It’s really versatile and convenient to travel with!
The eyeshadows are surprising very pigmented, not chalky (as I would typically expect from lower range eyeshadows) and very easy to blend. I could imagine this kit to be perfect for someone who is always on the go – needs an “all in one” kit, or someone who is just starting off with make up and learning to apply!
The best thing about the kit is that they even have a step-by-step guide printed on the kit with worded instructions and illustrations!
I had a quick test run of the liquid eyeliner – and as shown in the pictures, the tip is nice and thin – and doesn’t feather!! I drew a few strokes on the back of my hand to see how thin it could draw and how dark the line would be, and once again, I was surprised by how easy I was able to create a “wet” looking, thin black line.
