Raffles College of Design and Commerce is gearing up for its first RAFW show on the final day of fashion festivities.
Three Bachelor of Design graduates were awarded a unique opportunity to showcase their works to the local and international industry- on the panel to impress were notable fashion names including Dan Single, Nicola Finetti and Akira Isogawa.
These three lucky graduate designers will be joined by three students from Raffles Shanghai and Singapore.
With a ten piece RTW capsule collection expected from each of the six designers, we cannot wait to see what these incredibly talented designers cook up. Here’s a sneak peek at each of the six designers and what we can expect.
Byron McGilvray
Byron Bay, Australia
Inspired by the Avante Garde, travelling and industry experience, Byron McGilvray’s vision for his capsule collection is an intention to create a theatrical experience and thrives on shock factor on the runway.
Crystal Tsoi
Sydney, Australia
With an “East meets West” aesthetic, Hong Kong born and Sydney raised Crystal Tsoi fuses her fascination with the world around her and her heritage into exquisitely constructed pieces.
Erin Loh
Singapore
Inpsired by the romantic notion of disintegrating old city remnants, this collection from Erin Loh finds is aesthetic in reflecting a whimsical world full of mossy walls, terracotta and antique rusted gates.
Peggy Hartanto
Sydney, Australia
Born and raised in Indonesia, designer Peggy Hartanto made the journey to Sydney to make her dream of becoming a designer a reality. Graduating from Raffles in 2009, Peggy was the recipient of several internal and industry awards including Winner of the Kinokuniya Digital Art Prize. Since then, Peggy has been working with Collette Dinnigan. Her designs are a fusion of both eastern and western culture translated into high end womenswear.
Winson Tan
Sydney, Australia
Winson Tan kick started his career with the launch of his cleverly named label NOSNIM by Winson Tan, after winning three prestigious awards during Malaysian International Fashion Week in 2007. His aesthetic focuses on experimenting with the cut and type of fabric which brings a unique perspective to ready to wear.
Zhigang ‘Del’ Chan
Shanghai, China
Known as Del to his Australian friends and fans, this fashion design student hailing from Shanghai describes his capsule collection as encompassing foundations unique to Chinese fashion and design whilst incorporating Western elements.
